Eggleston’s Palisades Restaurant turned over its entire second floor on Saturday, November 30th to host a silent auction for Giles Animal Rescue. Vendors from all over the New River Valley donated time, services and/or merchandise to benefit homeless pets in Giles County. Restaurant patrons had the opportunity to view and bid on over fifty items collected by animal rescue volunteers.
The volunteer group, Giles Animal Rescue, spent many hours contacting potential donors and posting notices about the event around the county. Volunteers were also on hand that night to answer questions and distribute information on the state of animal welfare in the community.
“This group runs on volunteer power and the kind hearts of our donors. They will do whatever it takes to help unwanted dogs and cats in Giles. There is no doubt every single person who works at the Palisades is an animal lover,” said GAR President Christine Link-Owens.
Thanks to an outpouring of care and concern from those in attendance and the many items donated for the event, over thirteen hundred dollars was raised at the auction. Funds will be used in accordance with Giles Animal Rescue’s Mission, “to help homeless, abandoned, and neglected pets; provide spay/neuter education and assistance; and advocate pet-related issues in Giles County.
