After years of assisting the county, the volunteer group formerly known as Giles County Animal Rescue, Inc. (GCAR) will become Giles Animal Rescue, Inc., effective June 1, 2013. Giles Animal Rescue will continue working toward creation of a new humane facility for animals, staffed and operated by caring, consistent, and knowledgeable management which promotes adoption.
Many communities across the country are developing alternatives to “kill shelters” as residents accept responsibility for pet overpopulation. It is a community problem and will take community involvement to overcome.
While these plans develop, we will continue our highly successful foster and transport programs. We will continue to provide education to the community on the importance of spay/neuter and pet immunization. We will continue to offer financial assistance to pet owners in need. We will continue to rescue shelter pets, homeless pets, and neglected or abused pets.
We appreciate your support as we go through this transition; we will be updating our email and web addresses as well as our logo.
